Hey JP - I don't think ours would stand up with enough headroom to then effectively get it off the mount should we need to but will measure it next time I'm on the boat

Will your 5HP motor stand up the cuddy? If it does, I recommend a Campbell motor mount type solution. It works well for us by keeping the motor secure and (mostly) out of the way. I recently replaced the plywood mount we made a few years ago with a plastic one (link).

Our small outboard stands in the cuddy with only a few inches clear at the top. I’m not sure if a larger outboard would fit.

apologies if this is covered elsewhere in the forum. We have a 5hp outboard which I know is probably overkill for our needs (it came with the boat when we purchased it). While the Campbell motor mount is a great idea, I don't think it'll work for our size outboard. I'm looking for other ideas of best practices to keep the motor in the cabin when racing, even if it wouldn't be a permanent solution? Best I've come up with is laying it on the floor of the cabin with the motor and gas tank resting on a fender to a) protect the floor and b) keep it elevated in he event there's water ingress into the cabin.
