Thanks!

Robert,

Send me your email so I can send you some pictures of my frame and cover which I have used for 15 years.

Thanks Tim,

I used 2 this past season. I covered the spreaders with moving pad blankets to avoid the chafe. But the tarps just don't seem to last too long.

Bob

Thanks Ed for the info on Sailors Tailor. I had been looking at their cover for more permanent solution. I was concerned about pooling in the cockpit area. May go with the tarps again instead.

Bob

Just a note, two or three small tarps works better than trying to cover with one big one. Overlap them by a foot or so and you can get a nice tight cover. If you can get some help lifting the spar  off the deck two 12’ 2x4’s makes a perfect ridge pole. Less chafe and better for your rig

Hello Robert,

If you need to have the mast laying down on the boat, and everything under one cover, then your best bet is probably shrink wrap or tarping. You can buy the shrink wrap equipment and supplies on line and it's a straightforward job for one or two people. Sailor's Tailor does make a variety of nice covers for the boat and mast that are separate from one another, but you'll have to deal with puddling in the cockpit area. I use a pole 'n dome kit to tent the cover and it works well in heavy rain and snow. S.T. can customize your cover with lines to suspended the cover from the sheathed mast if you want. They are great to work with and will "tailor" your cover to fit your needs. One thing to be aware of: they are usually undermanned and lead times can be in months.

I have several of their covers and the one I like best is made for mast-off storage with the only openings being added vents. It works well to keep water out, but here in Seattle, I have to run a ventilation fan to keep the condensed moisture flowing out of the boat. I store my mast and other spars suspended in my garage ceiling. Attached are a few pics and link.

Looing for a good winter cover for the boat. Mast will be down but chocked on the boat.

Any recommendations?
