I looked up your father's listing, William Westland, in the Ensign Class yearbook.

Aura is an Ensign Classic, Hull / Sail # 2011, built in 2005.  Compared with most Ensigns, it's virtually a new boat in Ensign years

Contact someone in Fleet 16, Marbelhead MA, join the Ensign Class association and people will be more willing to help.  If you're still in Marblehead there must be some boat shops, get / pay for some professional help if you don't know what to do.  You'll save money in the long run.

 Check the Standing rigging for corrosion and fatigue , Hand wash [DO NOT MACHINE WASH] the running rigging lines and sheets, use a little fabric softener in the rinse water.  Check, service the winches [probably $500 a piece if you have to replace them, so worth some effort].  If you know how to sail, go sailing before you get upset about the brightwork.  If you don't know how to handle the boat, find someone willing to take you out and give you the basics to make you safe.

Part of owning a boat is maintaining it.  Polish and wax the hull above the water line, clean the decks, put some lanolin on the turnbuckles / bottle screws.  Check the nav lights.  Check the bottom paint / clean the hull.  Check your trailer.  Register the boat and trailer if needed.

Your boat is probably worth $20,000 or more if it's not a total wreck.  Spend some money on your asset to maintain its value and save your life while you're at sea sailing.  If you're going to flip the boat, don't do something short-sighted that someone else is going to have to undo.
